For the past year and a half, I have recruited college age student volunteers to help me with the Oakwood Youth Ministry (B.O.O.M.) . I have seen these individuals excel at youth ministry while they were huddle leaders (counselors) at a church camp called Summer Games University. And it is a way for me to pour into the college students and build them up as the next generation of church leaders.
I could not have succeeded so far in my position without their help. So, I wanted to showcase one of my awesome leaders this month so you can get to know those who are influencing the youth of Oakwood.

Meet Drayton Lents…….
Drayton Lents is a 21 year-old junior at Iowa State University who plans on getting his degree in physical therapy. He wants to become a physical therapist or an athletic trainer. Drayton is from Marshalltown, Iowa but currently lives in Ames for school.
Drayton has been one of my oldest friends. We grew up in the Marshalltown United Methodist Church together and participated in both the youth group and the youth band. Drayton has been going to Summer Games University for 10 years and has been on staff there with me for 4 years. I’ve seen him grow in faith and maturity over the years and I’m so glad he helping Oakwood. Drayton is leading the boys small group and playing drums in the youth band. He makes every situation fun and exciting while still being real and speaking the truth.
